Laughter Really is the Best Medicine

Comedy to check out in the North Metro and beyond.

by North Metro Woman

At North Metro Woman we are all about discovering new ways to stay happy and healthy.  Oftentimes it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but sometimes, there are things you can do that are very simple and easy that can also make a HUGE difference in your quality of life.

One of them being –have a laugh!

We’ve all heard the saying “laughter is the best medicine” and some will scoff that it’s just another cliche, but there are plenty of medical journals and professionals to back up this claim that laughter indeed improves everything from stress relief to increasing your body’s immunity from certain diseases and ailments.

According to the Mayo Clinic’s article on Stress Management laughter has both short term and long term affects on the body.  The simple response of laughter increases oxygen-rich air and releases neuropeptides which stimulate your body’s organs and stress relieving hormones.

On an emotional level, laughter also helps you to connect with other people.  So, if you would like to try a little laughter, in the name of good health, and just for fun this weekend.  Here are some places in the North burbs to make you smile.
