It’s Friday again and with that comes fun activities! With spring just around the corner, we’re starting to see more events going on around our neighborhood. Here are just a few you can check out this weekend in the North Metro area!

Brighton

2/10, 2/11 – Something Brewery 6th Annual Girl Scout Cookie Pairing Party

Come enjoy a cookie and beer pairing party. Yes, you read that right, cookies and beer! They go together like peanut butter and jelly, don’t they?

Something Brewery in Brighton is hosting it’s 6th annual Girl Scout Cookie pairing event. Come enjoy some of locally crafted beer and get yourself some Girl Scout Cookies while you’re there.

The fun starts at 3pm Friday. Girl Scouts will be selling cookies all weekend.

2/11 – Free Young People’s Concert

The Aurora Symphony Orchestra is hosting a free Young People’s Concert at the Armory Performing Arts Center in Brighton this Saturday from 3pm-5pm.

From the event website: “This fully bilingual English/Spanish event is designed to give to our younger audience and their family a shorter music presentation, along with stories and fun entertainment for music lovers of all ages!”

2/11 – Psychedelic Saturdays – 100 Nickel

Live on the Lanes is happening this Saturday night at 100 Nickel Bowling Alley. Grab your bowling shoes (or rent some) and come listen to some cool bass/electronic music by Mishawaka, Lysergia Art Collective & Phun Guy Productions.

The music is Psychedelic Saturdays ft. Bankaji, Slomoto, Denizen, LMO, Repetilian. We’re not sure exactly what that is, but is sounds like it definitely goes with bowling!

Ticket Reservation Required. Full restaurant service available. Tickets are $12.

2/11 – Sew Broomfield

inventHQ’s monthly sewing workshop, Sew Broomfield, is being held on Saturday from 9-11am.  This free event is great for anyone ages 12 and up. Each month this crafty workshop features a different creative project. Saturday’s program will focus on sewing a microwave friendly “bowlder”, or fabric bowl or pot. What a fun way to connect to other makers!

Be sure and get there on time as they may only have supplies for the first 20 people.

2/11 – Drag Queen Story time

This storytime event with Shirley Delta Blow is being held at the Broomfield Auditorium and is for all ages. Drag Queen Storytime is designed to help kids learn to love an accept themselves and others.

Storytime is followed by a meet and greet with Miss Shirley!

Event is Saturday at 10:30am, Broomfield Auditorium.

Northglenn 

2/10 – Nat King Cole/Jazz Concert

Seats still available as of this writing! Check out the talents of Robert Johnson and the CJRO Quartet as they create an evening of Nat King Cole’s music at the Parson’s Theater in Northglenn.

Familiar songs will include “Unforgettable,” “Route 66,” “Nature Boy” and more. Fans of Nat King Cole and the CJRO will not want to miss this great evening of music. A long-time Denver resident, Robert continues to showcase his talents not only as a vocalist, but as a songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer.

Friday, 7:30pm-9:30pm

Westminster/Arvada

2/11 – Rescue Puppy Yoga

There can’t be anything better than combining yoga and puppies can there? You can enjoy this wonderful event at The Orchard this Saturday.

Rescue Puppy Yoga finds fosters, funds and forever homes for animals in need. Yes, this event is giving puppy poses and down dog a whole new meaning!

Classes start at $30 and are 45 minutes with 15 minutes to cuddle and take pictures. You may even find your next fur baby!

2/ 11 – Book Discussion: Woman of Light

Have you read Woman of Light or are you interested in reading it? If so, join in the discussion about the book with family and friends at College Hill Library in Westminster on Saturday from 1:30pm – 3pm.

It’s like going to book club, but without all the planning. Discussions are free and open to all!

2/12 – Cocoa and Cuddles/Animal Sanctuary

Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary is hosting it’s first annual Cocoa and Cuddles Tour this winter season!

Grab some vegan hot cocoa and cuddle up with Luvin Arms big barn residents, which may include cows, donkeys, chickens and goats!

Tickets are $15 for kids and $25 for adults.
