Earth Day this week had many of us thinking of ways we can help the environment. Perhaps you cleaned up your neighborhood, started your garden, planted a tree, or began the composting project you’ve always meant to do.
There are so many ways each of us can do our part to make the world a better place. One of the things is by disposing of used medicine properly so that it doesn’t end up in our water system. As we all know, medication in the water is not only a risk to humans but everything that relies on it to live.
If you are not aware of where to dispose of medication, vitamins, ointments, or recycle drug containers in the North Metro area, here are some resources:
Walgreens on 120th in both Thornton and Broomfield has a kiosk near the pharmacy where you can take back medication (including pet medications) , aerosols and inhalers.
City of Brighton will take back all medication at the Brighton Police Department in the lobby on any day they are open 7am to 7pm.
City of Erie will safely dispose of medication at their bi-yearly “Medicine Take Back” program this Saturday from 10am-2pm at the Erie Police Department.
City of Louisville Police Department will take back at their lobby kiosk Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm.
Broomfield Police Department is hosting Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday April 27th.
The City of Thornton is even offering drive-up locations at The City of Thornton Police Department and Thornton Fire Station #5 this Saturday from 10am-2pm.
If you live in an area not mentioned, you can find ALL Colorado medical drop-off sites at Colorado Household Medication and Sharp’s Take Back Program.
See you out there at one of these locations!
