It has been a hot minute since we checked in with Annie Sasseville at Red Door Flowers, so North Metro Woman thought it was high time to pop by her flower farm in Louisville to see what’s blooming. And we were not disappointed!
Click on the link below to join us as Annie takes on a little tour of her super sunny property to show us her glorious purple poppies, and yards-high yarrow that are simply reaching for the sky this time of year.
Annie started her business growing flowers and vegetables in 2018 out of her home. The veggies took a backseat, however, once she started seeing the result of her dreamy dahlia tubers.
Annie says, “Once I saw those flowers come out of the ground, I was like, yeah, this is way more fun than growing vegetables.”
Annie started with 12 raised beds until she ran out of room and found this 1/4 acre property during COVID. After that, it was all flowers ALL the time and she hasn’t looked back.
Today, depending on the season, her farm bursts forth with various strains of tulips, cosmos, sunflowers, scabiosa, yarrow, dahlias , zanthus, marigolds, zinnias, poppies.. and even adorably named white Peter Cottontail flowers. It’s all so darn pretty. Her garden even has an adorable pudgy garden toad, …yet to be named.
Red Door Flowers also participates in the women run Colorado Flower Collective out of Lakewood.
The collective partners with 25 local flower farmers who jointly buy and sell with one another to help each business thrive.
Annie says, “It’s a great way for local florists to get fresh locally grown flowers, but not have to shop around at all the farms to get them. You just know you’re getting really high quality flowers likely cut within 48-72 hours.”
If you would like to support a local flower farmer, like Annie, just visit her website, call, or send her an email at annie@reddoorflowersco.com.
Her business is all word of mouth, so give her a shout and enjoy her lovely flowers for yourself or someone you love. AND, if you mention “North Metro Woman”, Annie will give you a 20% discount!
